Miami Gardens- Dr. Kevin Dvorak, Director of the UWC @ STU, was recently elected to be the President of the Southeastern Writing Center Association.
Since Dr. Dvorak has become the president of the SWCA, a new website has been launched representing the association. Its mission statement, which is displayed on the website, indicates its primary purposes of "advancing literacy, meeting the concerns of writing center professionals, and serving as a forum for students, faculty, staff, and writing professionals with writing concerns in the Southeast region of the U.S." This website provides valuable information in regards to writing centers and conferences that will be taking place.
During Dr. Dvorak’s first month as president, the SWCA will host four mini-regional conferences to help inform others about writing centers and how they help individual students. The conferences will be held in Alabama-Mississippi, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. He is co-chairing the conference in Florida, which is being held at Nova Southeastern University this March.
