UWC Tutor, Denise Pichardo, Presents at Florida Regional Writing Center Conference

Tampa- A group of UWC tutors went to Florida Regional Writing Center Conference (FRWCC) at the University of South Florida. At the conference, one tutor, Denise Pichardo, presented a session on developing satellite writing centers at local high schools.

Many respected colleagues attended the FRWCC and discussed the delicate intricacies of operating a writing center. One discussion that took place was the potential expansion of writing centers to make them accommodate the growing mass of students Universities gain on a yearly basis.

Pichardo described her experience as “awesome. Being a moderator was a new experience that I enjoyed greatly. Meeting and understanding numerous directors’ perspectives on things enabled me to talk so much more away from the conference than I had originally anticipated.”
