UWC Director to Co-Chair 2011 National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing

Baltimore, MD (Nov 2010)- UWC Director, Dr. Kevin Dvorak, will be co-chairing the 2011 National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing with Dr. Paula Gillespie (Florida International University) and Dr. Shanti Bruce (Nova Southeastern University). The conference will be hosted on Nov. 4-5 at the Kovens Conference Center located at FIU’s Biscayne Bay campus. The announcement was made during the Saturday keynote session at the 2010 IWCA-NCPTW Conference in Baltimore.

According to the NCPTW’s website, the organization “promotes the teaching of writing through collaborative learning. Peer tutors and NCPTW professionals help students to become self-sufficient writers. NCPTW professionals are leaders in collaborative approaches, respond to the challenges of creating and operating writing centers, develop innovative peer tutoring programs, and promote the work of their peer tutors. The NCPTW offers peer tutors the opportunity to contribute in professional and scholarly ways to the larger writing center community and is dedicated to providing forums for tutors to share and present research at national and international conferences.”
