Eight UWC Tutors to Present at Regional Conference

Miami Gardens (1/20/11)- The UWC is proud to announce that 8 tutors have been accepted to present at the 2011 Southeastern Writing Cetner Association Conference, Feb. 17-19, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.

The following is a list of the tutors and their presentation titles:

• Karen Mejia & Noralis Lambert- "Creative Change in the Writing Center"
• Aileen Valdes- "Turning the Tide on Conventional Thought Regarding the Tutoring of Bilingual"
• Lynne Roman & Brittany Griffin- "Helping At-Risk Students Succeed: The Writing Center as a Center for Student Retention Efforts"
• Kathryn Drumheller & Lilyeth Antonio- “The Influence of Tutors’ and Tutees’ Identities on Writing Center Sessions”
